The Queens Head pub in the historic market town of Rothbury, has reopened its doors following a significant £500k investment.

The pub is a fantastic stone walled building dating back to 1780 and perfectly placed on Rothbury’s picturesque high street which is within a mile of the River Coquet which meanders through the centre of the town.

It was important that the investment breathed new life into the much-loved pub whilst maintaining all its existing charm. Works included a full refurbishment to the ground floor including the repositioning of bar servery. Alterations have been made to create a more open space, enhancing the pubs trading area creating a traditional, home from home feel which is sure to be enjoyed by customers.

The Queens Head boasts 9 beautiful letting rooms which have all been refurbished to a really high standard. 17 new jobs have been created following the investment with a skilled and passionate team in place.

New Publicans, Nicola and Craig Fortune bring with them a wealth of experience having previously managed pubs in the North East and are really looking forward to welcoming customers new and old to their new look pub.

Nicola said, “We are so pleased to finally be opening the doors, the pub and rooms all look fantastic! We have lots of plans for the Queens Head and are passionate about creating a place for everyone to enjoy all year round putting the pub back at the heart of the community.”

The pub, which was officially opened by Cllr Steven Bridgett over the bank holiday weekend, has a quality all day food offer, as well as a wide range of drinks for customers to choose from including quality cask ale, craft beers, wine and a fantastic gin range.

The bed and breakfast is available to visitors all year round and Nicola and Craig are also really looking forward to bringing a breakfast offer to the community and will open up for customers to enjoy a delicious breakfast at the pub every day.

Entertainment will also be a key focus, with family fun days and live music events planned and, of course, everybody’s favourite quiz night will be hosted every Monday night making The Queens Head the place to be in Rothbury.

Punch Managing Director, Andy Spencer added: “This is a significant investment by Punch in an established community pub and we are extremely pleased with the new look created here. With our new Publicans, Nicola and Craig at the helm we are confident that The Queens Head will continue to thrive at the very heart of the community it serves.”.
