On Sunday, we welcomed 24 pub quiz teams into our industry leading Academy Bar for our ninth Great British pub quiz finals. 130 customers from pubs across the UK attended to battle it out in a quiz hosted by regular TV quizmaster, Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett.

The competition launched in April 2019 with 332 Punch pubs entering. Each pub hosted eight weekly quizzes before nominating their best two teams to go forwards to one of ten regional finals with the top two teams from each regional moving onto the grand finale.
A quiz team from The Cleveland Bay Hotel in Stockton on Tees won first place taking home the winner’s trophy and the top prize of £1000.

Head of Drink at Punch, Stephen Martin, said “It’s fantastic to welcome guests from our pubs into Punch, we have had a great day. Congratulations to The Four Tops on their win. The Great British Pub Quiz is everyone’s favourite pub event and has proved as popular as ever in its ninth year. It’s great to see so many of our Publicans seizing the opportunity to take part, increase sales and footfall into their pubs whilst having fun along the way.”

Top three places went to:
1st Place – The Four Tops – from The Cleveland Bay Hotel, Eaglescliffe, Stockton-on-Tees
2nd Place – Usual Suspects – from The Humber Hotel, Coventry
3rd Place – White Hart Tap Team 1 – from The White Hart Tap, St Albans.
