Independent pub company, Punch has called on its Publicans and pub customers to nominate their best pub love story for this year’s Valentine’s.

The loved up stories were judged by Punch’s own cupid team with the winning lovebirds, Steve and Karen Brannagan, being given red roses and Prosecco.

Steve and Karen’s story started in 1986 when they met and fell in love as customers of The Railway pub in Garswood near Ashton in Makerfield. Many years later, now happily married the couple seized the opportunity to run the pub themselves in 2002.

Now, 18 years later and they are still very much in love and remain at the helm of their favourite local.

Russell Danks, Marketing and Strategy Director from Punch said, “The Great British pub is the heart and soul of communities across the UK and we value them for being so much more than places to eat and drink. It’s been great getting real life pub stories to remind us that getting together in the pub is still up there as the place to fall in love.”
