Development and Support Analyst

Working with our awesome IT team, the primary focus of the development and support analyst role is to scope, develop, deliver and support Punch’s business process applications. Whilst providing a first-class service through your quality communication, you will actively be providing support directly to end users. Within the role you’ll be responsible for writing and maintaining code, working on bug fixes, monitoring the technical performance of internal systems, responding to requests from the Development team, gathering information from consumers about program functionality, writing reports and conducting development tests.

  • Complete the end-to-end development cycle including design, unit testing, user sign off, documentation as appropriate, training and review, ensuring that the expectation of delivery to the business is well managed with key stakeholders
  • Ensure developments are regularly reviewed and progressed to agreed timescales with key stakeholders
  • Champion one-way of working in terms of reporting and business process solutions in line with the wider Business and IT Strategy
  • Continual improvement of applications ensuring all solutions delivered realise the cost benefits/value add intended

  • Build and maintain great relationships with colleagues and other customers to allow you to provide a first-class customer service and to ensure the processes supported by the applications are optimised
  • Work in conjunction with the wider IT team to ensure services are robust and appropriately supported from a first and second line point of view, whilst providing support to in-house systems
  • To be flexible in your approach and willing to undertake any ad hoc analysis and projects as required by the Head of IT

Person Specification – Technical Competencies & Professional Expertise

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Positive and enthusiastic, focused on delivering successful solutions adding clear value to the business
  • Able to prioritise, plan and organise own workload and tasks
  • Able to learn new software and technologies quickly
  • A good communicator who is able to influence key stakeholders
  • Able to follow instructions and work in a team environment
  • Detail-oriented

The ideal candidate will have:

  • GCSE or equivalent passes in English and Maths.
  • Knowledge of development principles
  • Basic programming experience – ideally in a BPM software (Appian) – but experience in SQL, VBA, any object orientated programming is advantageous
  • Knowledge of databases and operating systems
  • Good working knowledge of email systems and Microsoft Office software
