Finance Business Partner

Working within our awesome Finance team the purpose of the role is to Business Partner with our Operations teams, providing key strategic insight through financial reporting and analysis.

Key Accountabilities


  • Lead and develop the MP Finance team to support their development
  • Work with the MP Finance team to produce pub P&Ls to the highest quality through booking journals and reviewing P&Ls
  • Periodically review the Balance Sheet for all Pubs to ensure transparency and accurate documentation
  • Hold monthly open session days where Operations Managers can come discuss queries with Financials and act as a central Finance contact to resolve any problems on behalf of the Operations Manager
  • Meet with the Operations Managers and Department Managers on a regular basis to support cost reduction/sales growth initiatives
  • Effectively run month end reporting processes, ensuring local reporting software is populated with the periodic reports by the required timelines and supporting a five-day period closure
  • Produce outlet specific Budgets and reforecast P&Ls as required
  • Support the Business Reporting Manager to produce Board Exec reporting Packs
  • Support the Business Reporting Manager on all daily and weekly sales reporting
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis as required by the Business Reporting Manager


  • Striving for operational excellence – develop and maintain a scorecard to monitor the performance of each outlet whilst providing key strategic insight to our Operations Managers and Publicans


  • Pro-actively develop awesome new business insight to help Operations Managers quickly identify potential areas for improvement
  • Ability to recognise and quickly respond to the wider business activity and objectives, identifying ways in which the wider Finance function can support


  • Deliver exceptional customer service and support to both external customers and internal stakeholders in a professional manner and in line with company policy
  • Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and drive results
  • Building strong and effective relationships across all areas of the business


  • Focus on liaising with field operations and internal support teams to help drive profitability and decision making
  • Willing to support junior team members with career progression and mentoring, assisting with professional exam study where required
  • Any other ad hoc work as required in order to support the Finance team and wider business

Person Specification – Technical Competencies/Professional expertise

  • Self-motivated; able to work on own initiative but also to be flexible in supporting the team
  • Able to plan and organise effectively in order to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the organisation (in person, on the phone and in writing)
  • Ability to build rapport and develop key relationships
  • Proactive approach to individual training, development and progression
  • Ability to motivate a team, to develop individuals within your team
  • A competent user of Microsoft Excel and experience of working with large data sets
  • GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths is highly desirable
  • CIMA / ACCA Qualified
