Financial Reporting Accountant

Working within our awesome Finance team, the purpose of the role is to provide timely and accurate financial reporting for the Group.

Key Accountabilities


  • The production of year-end statutory accounts for the consolidated group, consolidated sub-groups and subsidiary companies
  • The production of half yearly consolidated sub-group accounts
  • The production of quarterly and periodic investor reports
  • Liaising with external auditors to ensure smooth audit of year end accounts
  • Production of annual corporation tax computations
  • Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger including production and review of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Line management and supporting the ongoing professional development of the Financial Accountant and Finance Assistant
  • Oversee the production of periodic overheads reporting and fixed assets reporting


  • Provision of effective business insight to support the wider business in driving performance and making our pubs more successful


  • Add value to the team by identifying and sharing potential opportunities to improve current processes and procedures


  • Deliver exceptional customer service and support to both external customers and internal stakeholders in a professional manner and in line with company policy and legislative requirements
  • Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative but to also be flexible in supporting the team
  • Building strong and effective relationships across all areas of the business


  • Support junior team members with career progression and mentoring, assisting with professional exam study where required
  • Liaise with field operations, internal support teams and suppliers as appropriate, in order to achieve accurate completion of all tasks and enquiries
  • Any other ad hoc work as required in order to support the team and wider business

Key Relationships

  • Reporting into the Financial Reporting Manager
  • Two direct reports: Financial Accountant and Finance Assistant
  • Working closely with the Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer
  • Other members of the Finance Team
  • External Auditors

Person Specification – Technical Competencies/Professional expertise

  • Qualified Accountant with experience in a similar role
  • Self-motivated; able to work on own initiative but also to be flexible in supporting the team
  • Ability to plan and organise effectively in order to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the organisation (on the telephone and in writing)
  • Ability to build rapport and develop key relationships
  • Proactive approach to individual training and development
  • A strong knowledge/understanding of Microsoft Excel and a competent user of Microsoft Word/Outlook is highly desirable
