Today we have welcomed the announcement made by the Prime Minister that pubs in England* are able to safely re-open both inside and outside from 4th July.

Whilst we await the finalised detail, it was also encouraging to learn that the Government has also announced today that it will adopt the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommended one metre (plus) social distancing guideline as used in many other countries.

We are expecting the approved guidelines to be released within the next 24 hours. Our teams will then update the information we have already provided to you with the aim of having finalised guidelines and associated risk assessment templates reissued to all of our pubs within 24 hours of the Government update.

On Tuesday 30th June, we will host a final webinar session pre-reopening where we will discuss in more detail preparation for reopening and share further insight on what our customers will look for ahead of being welcomed back into their beloved local.

*Whilst full reopening timelines for Wales remain unclear, we will be using the same approach – albeit with different supporting information when the timeline for reopening is published.

Contactless Payment and Order & Pay

It isn’t new news that customer expectations are changing and the expectations for pubs to offer both contactless payments and order & pay at table technology is increasing. It may also become one of the key functions needed to get customers back into pubs in July.

Whilst we know that technology may not be the only answer and may not suit every pub, these solutions will be a great help when it comes to welcoming your customers back through the doors.
