The Barley Mow is a fantastic opportunity for an operator on the ball, knowledgeable about all things food and drink and who loves their community. You’ll be an expert plate spinner who understands the importance of making guests feel welcome, creating an inclusive atmosphere and supporting community teams to perform at the highest possible level.
You’ll also know what makes a good event, ensuring guests have a great time complete with high-quality service, food, and drink. You’ll know your regulars by name, what they drink, where they like to sit and take a genuine interest in their stories.
The Barley Mow is a community pub through and through, ticking every box for the residents, whether it’s parents looking for a coffee after the school run, friends meeting to watch sport, families out for a bite to eat or hosting a gathering. We need a Management Partner who will host popular live events, sport, team events, fundraising activities and keep everyone happy and entertained.
Here liquor leads, with a great range of ales including local cask, along with a strong lager and cider line up, and a wide range of gins. The pub grub is also fantastic for mid-week impromptu visits and equally tantalising for date nights or traditional Sunday roasts at the weekend.
The Barley Mow needs an operator prepared to get involved in every aspect of the village life, whether it’s the Christmas craft fair or the summer fete. You’ll be experienced in all things hospitality and training, recruiting and leading a team.

The Pub and Location
The ideal operator will enjoy an exquisite chocolate box of a pub with flint stonework on the front fascia. There is a traditional bar on the left-hand side and an airy room with lots of natural light to the right that lends itself to dining.
The kitchen resides behind the bar, along with the cellar and an expansive garden sits behind the pub, with some creative plans in place to maximise the area.
The Barley Mow sits at the heart of the historic, picturesque village of Oakley. It’s four miles west of Basingstoke and sits on the edge of the North Downs. However, the Barley Mow is the only pub!
You’ll discover three bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, toilet and bathroom.
