The Black Lion Hotel is a traditional pub and small hotel in the North Yorkshire town of Richmond.

Stepping inside, the first thing you’ll notice is the cosy bar and snug area downstairs, accompanied by beautiful feature fireplaces. On the first floor is a function room used for breakfast as well as hosting events, along with a large catering kitchen. The pub has space for 250 covers in total.

Facilities

There are 14 comfortable rooms, including 13 en-suites, decorated to a tidy, clean standard, and ranging from single to family-sized.

The pub is well-equipped for travellers with 10 parking spaces and Wi-Fi available throughout. It offers good room prices for the area and traditional home-cooked food and popular afternoon teas make it a complete package.

Accommodation

The domestic accommodation consists of three private bedrooms and a kitchen, which Punch will ensure is in good order.

Refurbishment

The Black Lion will benefit from substantial investment which will give the downstairs area a refresh, while maintaining the pub’s traditional charm.

Some of the rooms will also benefit from a facelift, with new furniture and fixtures. Outside, a small smoking solution will be added to the rear car park.

About the local area

Richmond is a popular tourist town in North Yorkshire, especially for older folk, and is an especially popular spot with walkers, given its location on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. It’s also close to the A1 / A66 junction at Scotch Corner – an ideal stop-off for travellers on long journeys.

About the Agreement

Our Tenancy agreements vary between 3 – 5 years offer a flexible approach to running your own pub business. Your pub will be ready to trade, with carefully tailored food and drinks menus in place which you can evolve as you go along.
You will receive a high level of support and everything you need to run a successful business. From the beginning, you will have dedicated Operations Manager, plus access to training and development, business planning, operations and accounting expertise.

Once you’ve completed the 5-day induction course we’ll provide you with ongoing support to help you maximise the efficiency, sales and profitability of your pub. This includes helping you decide on the right drinks offer, guidance on margin and support creating a marketing plan to build for continued success. To help market your pub, we also offer lots of support and advice.

Punch Tenancy agreements have shared repairs liability, we will help you manage your ongoing repairing obligations. We do this by operating a repairs and maintenance fund for all new agreements.

* The calculation of the initial Ingoing Costs assumes a minimum deposit (£3,000 or £6,000) plus legal fees. The subsequent deposit build up (if any) will need to be paid over 52 weeks. This can be discussed with the recruitment team or Operations Manager
