Looking to run a pub?
The Old Blue Anchor is a traditional community value pub that benefits from a prominent corner plot. It attracts a healthy wet trade, which can definitely be expanded upon by adjusting the offer to appeal a wider audience and by also enhancing the pub’s kerb appeal. There’s clear scope to enhance the current offer and perhaps also create outside seating space. The introduction of real ales would be a popular move and a basic food offer of bar snacks would also be a good addition.
We recently completed a significant investment to cover interior redecoration, including new fixtures and fittings, refurbishment of the toilet facilities, plus possible external redecoration.
The Old Blue Anchor is an open plan trading operation, with a very traditional feel which is quite unique for the area. This can definitely be enhanced in a positive way with the planned investment. There’s a dedicated pool/sports area, with a well-used pool table and darts board. Despite currently handling 100% wet trade, the pub also has a good-sized kitchen, so there’s a clear opportunity to introduce a simple bar snacks food offer. Free WiFi is available throughout.
The domestic accommodation consists of three bedrooms, a kitchen and a lounge. Punch will ensure that this accommodation is in good order.
The local area
The Old Blue Anchor is located in the old town of Lowestoft, an area that appears to be regenerating itself after a period of being rather left behind. The pub sits in a prominent corner position on the high street, surrounded by lots of shops and other businesses. The town is focusing on restoring the previous business success of this area.
This pub may suit
We’re looking for a community-focused, hands-on operator, who can work with the planned investment and clear potential here to help to grow this business.
