Punch has just acquired this fabulous community pub with an excellent trading history and is ready to be taken to the next level.  We like it so much that we bought it from the owners, who have run it for over 15 years!  Subject to approval, there are plans to refresh both the internal and external décor and install new signage.

The savvy operator will take full advantage of the different trading areas, a commercial kitchen, excellent accommodation, SKY sports, a proven trading history and a great pub garden, all enclosed with the advantage of being very easy to maintain.  There is even a separate, well-supported Skittle Alley; this pub has everything.

The pub splits into distinct areas, all served by a square bar in the middle of the venue.  You have a sports area, a relaxed drinking and eating area and a room with more extensive tables that could accommodate larger groups.  The pub thrives with teams, events, and sports, and the layout suits these activities perfectly.  Some televisions can show different games in different parts of the pub, dart boards, and a fantastic addition to a separate Skittle alley.  You can use this room for functions, and the Skittle Alley flows to a tremendous enclosed rear sun trap garden. Both the pub and Skittle Alley have access to the garden; the Skittle Alley has its patio area as part of the garden.

You’ll find the pub in the small village of Illchester, where the river Yeo flows right through. You are at the heart of things with the historic town hall and museum next door to the pub.

Ideal publican

We’re seeking a community operator who will link with everything the welcoming community offers.  We will consider first-time operators, but the ability to offer a pub grub-style food operation is essential.

We require someone with the energy, creativity and passion to host events that drive new footfall. Enticing social media and traditional marketing will make all the difference here.

Private accommodation

The pub has fantastic three-bedroom accommodation with a large kitchen, a lovely lounge area, three bedrooms and a wonderful private garden roof area with direct access from the accommodation.  The accommodation is second to none.
