​The Butt Inn is a pub steeped in history dating back to the 1920s and named after the archery butts located in the field opposite. Visitors and locals love their favourite pub in the area, which is no mean feat, as there is fierce local competition. (Other pubs include the Spring Inn, Shulhamsptead and Rowbarge, and Woolhampton.)

We’re looking for a Management Partner who can reach a wider audience by harnessing the power of social media bringing regular events to life online. You’ll have a proven track record of operating high-quality food venues, best able to adapt to all types of guests, from regulars to visiting families with young children. The ideal operator will naturally embrace the demands of the affluent community.

You’ll have a passion for delivering the optimum customer service reacting positively to all guest feedback. You’ll also improve guest ratings across online platforms, including Trip Advisor, Google My Business and Facebook.

The Butt Inn needs a highly skilled operator able to adapt their service style for every occasion. You’ll set an ethos of camaraderie and recruit for personality, leading by example. The ideal operator will be the ultimate host enabling guests to feel relaxed and reassured in their company as they exude confidence and pride in their pub. You’ll facilitate a sense of belonging on both sides of the bar.

The pub and area

The Butt Inn is nestled in the village of Aldermaston, just of the A4 Bath Road, between Reading (nine miles East) and Newbury (nine Miles West). The ideal operator will take advantage of the excellent transport links and position opposite the river. Residents are affluent and work in Reading or commute to London.

As you walk into the Butt Inn, you’ll smell the open fire and hear the gentle chatter of locals catching up in the small bar. Exploring the pub, you will see the majority of its space is devoted to dining, h spaces gently and picturesquely split with wood beams. The large kitchen is in the heart of the pub. Staff find it easy to collect food orders and communicate them to the kitchen team.

You’ll take advantage of the pretty garden at the front and the spacious beer garden at the rear of the pub. The garden boasts covered and open areas and an exquisite wood-fired pizza oven oozing sumptuous aromas into the atmosphere. Dogs are welcome in the bar and lounge area, and we also have a great beer garden with plenty of free parking.

 The private accommodation will also enable you to ingratiate yourself in the community. Here you will find two bedrooms in a self-contained manager’s flat on the first floor above the pub. You could also use the three rooms on the first and ground floors for staff accommodation.
