The Cricketers provides the chance to take on a well-established, stable business that has the scope to excel with continued community engagement.
We’re looking for talented and experienced operators who will:
– Lead from the front and be the face of the business, engaging the immediate locals with the many regular diners who travel from the surrounding towns and villages.
– Seek to always over-deliver guest experiences in a structured and disciplined manner.
– Be passionate, approachable, and engaging people-person, instilling the pub within the heart of the community.
– Have a proven track record of catering experience and a passion for food. You do not necessarily need to have previously run your own food business.
– Work as a duo or with more people running it, as this is a significant business proposition currently run by a family.
– Be passionate about beer quality with a keen eye for food presentation.
– Versatile in hosting style, entertaining affluent guests, and a diverse demographic.
– Be keen, enthusiastic, hands-on, charming, and an aspirational Gordon Ramsay.
– Draw on previous hospitality experience to lead the team. You’ll get a buzz out of collaborating with them (and the regulars!), excelling in service.
The Cricketers pub needs an experienced seasonal operator who can be flexible with their business needs.
The pub and location
The Cricketers is located in the village of Irwene Courtney just north of Blandford and nestled in the heart of the Dorset countryside. This idyllic Dorset village isn’t as sleepy as it may first appear, with active local community groups, a spacious village cricket ground (hence the pub name!) and plenty of walking activity.
The pub is in tip-top condition, but we are looking to add an attractive small barn to the garden to provide a cosy external space for guests to enjoy throughout the year. The heart of the pub is the traditional country bar enveloped with an attractive tiled floor in the main areas and an open fire. Next to the bar is a bright yet relaxing dining room for forty covers and French doors out onto the well-proportioned garden.
The outside space is a real winner. Mainly laid to lawn, it provides a sheltered spot to relax for drinkers and diners alike. There is a small car park immediately to the front, and additional parking is available on the roadside.
The domestic living area is plentiful, boasting four large bedrooms alongside the kitchen, bathroom and living room. You’ll also discover a small studio apartment in the garden, perfect to attract and accommodate extra helping hands.
