The Engine Inn, Cornwall is well located just on the main road into Penzance. It commands some of the best views across the Cornish Peninsular and with a large outside area and children’s play facilities it’s an ideal family pub on a hot summers day. In the winter the pub becomes a classic warm and friendly, traditional Cornish pub with three large wood burning stoves adding warmth and comfort. The pub has two lovely letting rooms in the converted stable block to the side of the pub with the views across the country side; perfect for a short break. Food is the big draw and would suit someone from this background as the whole area around St Ives is very popular with foodies!

The trading area is open plan with 25 covers for food in addition to the drinking tables and stools. Built from traditional granite the interior is full of history and local imagery with a unique bar built from old chests of drawers. There are four real ales on at any one time and the pub has hosted real ale festivals and events. There is a large fire in the trading area and an additional two wood burners to make sure that warm winter feeling can be created. Outside is a very large patio area with grass beer garden and children’s playground to accommodate busy summer days.

About the local area

The pub is located on the road between St Ives and Penzance and has good passing trade as well as many small villages in the immediate area. The route is popular with cyclists, motor bikers and tourists in the summer who enjoy the scenery which can really be appreciated from this pub. St Ives is home to many artists and the Tate gallery with Mount St Michael and Penzance only 15 mins away.
