The Hop Merchant is ideally located directly in the centre of Nottingham with high footfall, excellent transport links complete with bus and tram stops located within a few minutes’ walk.
You’ll take advantage of the fact that the pub sits right next to the Cornerhouse, comprising a cinema, bars and restaurants, and the opportunity that Nottingham Theatre Royal offers with guests spilling out after shows in search of a venue for a tipple or two and a debrief.
The Hop Merchant is a large, prominent corner site with two main trading areas. It has a bar and a first-floor function room (50 covers in the bar / 28 covers on the first floor). You’ll discover 24 further covers externally. Plus, there’s a cellar located on the lower ground floor.
The ambition is for this to be the best pub in Nottingham City Centre. It’ll be the venue where friends and colleagues gather, with high footfall from students attending Nottingham Trent University nearby.
We need an operator who can provide a great range of premium drinks; local cask ale is a big footfall driver. Demand for craft beers is also very high, with guests enjoying watching Sky and BT live sport. Those going ‘out, out’ will choose to visit you. Guests in the summertime will take advantage of the outside space to enjoy the sunshine.
The Ideal Operator
We need an operator who can capitalise on an area bustling with students, shoppers, theatregoers and office workers, and exceptional transport links with a growing number of residential properties in the area.
You’ll have a passion for beer, both craft and traditional, and have previously operated a business that engages with locals and new guests alike. We need a gregarious community opera with experience in creating strong community links.
Previous hospitality experience is essential. As is the ability to recruit, train and lead a team from the front. You’ll also be keen to host social events and know your locals by name.
The pub has three bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, and bathroom. All are in good order.
