We are looking for a specialist, someone dynamic with the flair necessary to take the Jolly Roger to the next phase of its success story. You’ll have the strong leadership necessary to inspire staff, the creative marketing know-how to drive sales, and a long history of providing superb service.
Excellent hospitality skills are crucial, as this is a busy community local and a destination food pub. Planning functions and events, exceptional hosting skills, and the ability to drive cover turns are crucial to your success. You’ll also excel at running a busy kitchen and managing an excellent team; your standards are second to none.
The Jolly Roger needs a charismatic energiser to rally around your team and community, creating great memories and events for the whole neighbourhood.
The pub and local area
The Jolly Roger sits on the seafront in Hardway, just over a mile from Gosport town centre. Guests enjoy spectacular views across Portsmouth Harbour overlooking both the Naval and Historic Dockyards across the water. The area is very popular with dog walkers, hikers, and boat owners.
You’ll be taking the helm of a popular community pub. If you enjoy hosting events, you’ll love the Jolly Roger! Locals enjoy charity race nights, gin tasting, live entertainment and popular quiz nights. Rugby Union fans also love the pub.
But food is the pub’s star attraction. You’ll discover the main dining area towards the back with large windows overlooking Portsmouth harbour. The dining area is often fully booked, demonstrating the lure of the food with guests.

We understand how important it is for a Management Company to completely own their own team.
