The pub and location
The Inn dates back to early Tudor times when it was called the Queen Arms. Indeed, the cast-iron plaque on the front of the building depicts the royal coat of arms belonging to Elizabeth I (1558 – 1603).
Elizabeth herself visited Sandwich in 1573 and stayed opposite the Inn at Kings Lodgings, built for her father, Henry VIII. The depiction of Pan on the corner of the building was carved during Elizabeth’s reign in 1592.
The beautiful trading area has a bar, restaurant and two side rooms, and the first floor has a spacious function room and eight bedrooms. Externally, the pub has ample seating in the private courtyard and hedge bordered garden. Visitors come from all over London and Kent.
We have a refurbishment planned to reclaim the traditional pub features. Once completed, you’ll discover a full kitchen extension and an upgrade of all eight rooms. This exciting scheme will enhance and improve a gorgeous building.
