The Rising Sun sits in a prime position for passing trade. You’ll find it in the small village of Ickford, just off the A418 between Thame and Wheatley. The busy market town of Thame, on the route of the Phoenix cycling trail, is just four miles (eight minutes) away. Junction 8A of the M40 motorway is also 3.5 miles (10 minutes) away. The pub sits on the Ickford Loop 35km cycling route.

This attractive dog-friendly pub enjoys trade from the local community, passers-by, dog walkers, cyclists, and running clubs. The right operator will also establish it as a destination venue for good pub food, a pint, or drinks with friends. Car parking on site offers spaces for approximately 12 vehicles.

The pub boasts a large beer garden complemented by a children’s play area and an Aunt Sally throw. The outside space is fantastic for hosting barbeque events in the warmer weather and is large enough for a marquee for wedding parties, beer or gin festivals, special occasions etc.

The pub has two trading areas. The main bar has flagstone flooring with low ceilings and beams that give the pub real character and charm. There’s also a cosy feature open fireplace with seating for 25 covers, making it an ideal venue for weekend dining.

The smaller bar area/dining has wooden flooring with seating for approximately 15 covers. There’s also a large wooden traditional bar servery with cask ales, lagers, cider, and stout. The pub also benefits from a small, commercially equipped trade kitchen.

You will have good customer service and hosting skills alongside in-depth food knowledge and preparation skills. Local networking and promoting a robust social, and online presence will be essential. You will be a great communicator with exceptional standards and the ability to motivate a team to deliver outstanding service going above and beyond every day.

Local knowledge is beneficial but not essential.
