The Standard of Freedom is a small cosy pub located at the heart of Skircoat Green, Halifax. It has an intimate feel and guarantees its guests a warm welcome with its slate floors, open fires and comfy fixed seating. This wet led pub is well loved for its cask marque accredited ales and plays host to weekly entertainment including darts, dominoes and a quiz night.

The pub is made up of an open plan trading area which encourages a lively atmosphere among locals. The bar faces the entrance which allows the Publican to welcome their guests into the pub. As well as this there is a decked external drinking area at the side of the pub which boast sweeping views across the Calder Valley. The pub also benefits from a small number of car parking spaces at the front.

About the local area

The Standard of Freedom is located on the outskirts of Halifax in Skircoat Green which is a vibrant little community with a variety of small independent shops. The area has its own Junior School and has excellent road links via the M62 for easy access to Leeds, Bradford and Manchester. The Standard of Freedom is particularly ingrained in the community for its historic roots as this is where the Chartists met to create the Peoples Charter and set out their political demands. The pub was renamed the Standard of Freedom in recognition of the pub hosting these meetings.

About the Agreement

Our Tenancy agreements vary between 3 – 5 years offer a flexible approach to running your own pub business. Your pub will be ready to trade, with carefully tailored food and drinks menus in place which you can evolve as you go along.
You will receive a high level of support and everything you need to run a successful business. From the beginning, you will have dedicated Operations Manager, plus access to training and development, business planning, operations and accounting expertise.

Once you’ve completed the 5-day induction course we’ll provide you with ongoing support to help you maximise the efficiency, sales and profitability of your pub. This includes helping you decide on the right drinks offer, guidance on margin and support creating a marketing plan to build for continued success. To help market your pub, we also offer lots of support and advice.

Punch Tenancy agreements have shared repairs liability, we will help you manage your ongoing repairing obligations. We do this by operating a repairs and maintenance fund for all new agreements.

* The calculation of the initial In going Costs assumes a minimum deposit (£3,000 or £6,000) plus legal fees. The subsequent deposit build up (if any) will need to be paid over 52 weeks. This can be discussed with the recruitment team or Operations Manager
