The ideal operator will be a community leader. You’ll have a strong sense of pride in your pub and show genuine care for your guests. A true chameleon, you’ll have the ability to lead the pub from a Friday night of shots and bombs into a Saturday morning, cheering on the local football team and everything in between.

Your service will have that personal touch; going above and beyond will be second nature to the team. Local knowledge, your caring nature and service with a smile will win every time. Interaction over the bar will put the guests at ease. The team will be happy to make menu recommendations, from the tastiest burger to the latest gin flavour. Efficient, friendly, and well known to the regulars, every pint poured and dish served will be done with energy, care, and fun.

The person/s we are looking for will have demonstrated a genuine passion for food and liquor, working within an established business. You’ll have a proven track record of growing sales, enjoying the hustle and bustle of a busy pub. You’ll also be the host in the thick of it, best able to plan and deliver outstanding events.

The pub and location

The Wheatsheaf is a sports-driven venue with BT and Sky Sports, pool tables and darts. Only a five-minute walk from the station, university, and the town centre, located on New Street Chelmsford, you’ll make guests feel at home on every visit.

You’ll stock a significant range of lagers and ales in addition to an exciting gin and rum range. The Wheatsheaf’s food menu will have something for everyone with a delicious range of traditional pub favourite dishes and treats!

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual or duo to operate this great pub! A good-sized, three-bedroom flat is available above the pub for the right candidate.

Alongside tonnes of day to day support and a brilliant framework to grow the business, we provide an uncapped cut of top line turnover to pay yourself and your team in exchange for your Management Company providing the management services at the pub – it’s your structure to own, subject to management company costs including, but not limited to, staff costs, minor repairs and maintenance at the pub, security/door staff and insurance. We understand how important it is for a Management Company to completely own their own team.
