We’re planning a small investment at the Wheatsheaf in April with new external and internal decks and contemporary furniture for a new Management Partner to make their mark and capitalise on the investment.

The pub and location

The Wheatsheaf is a homely city centre pub where guests come to watch the big match, catch up with mates or let their hair down ready for a fantastic evening.

Guests love this established sports bar just off the centre drag of Chelmsford City centre with a large trading area. It’s a home-from-home for sports enthusiasts with ten sports screens, three pool tables, a darts area, and several machines. Outside, we have a temporary pavement licence (to the right of the pub), a small seating area to the front and an intimate courtyard at the back. We’re looking for a talented operator who can maximise the abundant opportunities here.

Chelmsford is a blossoming city in Essex, just thirty miles from central London. It’s home to around 184k people.

Ideal publican

You’ll:

• Be a sports lover.
• Know how to attract a student market.
• Thrive when hosting live events, always pulling something different out of the bag.
• Be creative when using social media to bring events to life, drawing in a young audience for lively weekends.
• Know how to grow a social media following within the 18 to 35 demographic.
• Have experience running a classic British pub and demonstrate continuous improvement, never settling and always looking to take your pub to the next level.
• Know the kitchen, as there is a food opportunity here. However, you don’t need to be a chef to succeed at the Wheatsheaf.
• Have an appetite for success!

We recently decorated the accommodation, comprising three bedrooms, one living room, a kitchen, bathroom and second toilet.

Alongside tonnes of day to day support and a brilliant framework to grow the business, we provide an uncapped cut of top line turnover to pay yourself and your team in exchange for your Management Company providing the management services at the pub – it’s your structure to own, subject to management company costs including, but not limited to, staff costs, minor repairs and maintenance at the pub, security/door staff and insurance. We understand how important it is for a Management Company to completely own their own team.
