A much-loved coastal pub has been given a new lease of life, as The Inn on the Shore in Torpoint unveils its £80k makeover – and the community is loving it.

An investment by Punch Pubs & Co has breathed new life into the charming pub, transforming the indoor bar and adding a new outdoor feature to join its popular alfresco terrace.

The Barrel Bar, as it’s now called, has replaced an existing outdoor bar that was previously unused. Now it has been repurposed as a surf-inspired oceanfront haven where guests can tuck into freshly made pizzas while soaking up unrivalled sea views, or grab a slice to go and enjoy it right on the shoreline.

Management Partner Dan Goodwin, who has been at the helm of the pub for just over a year, is pleased with the changes and excited about the glowing reviews from guests so far. He said: “This investment has really given our beautiful pub a boost. The location speaks for itself, we’re spoilt with stunning views of the Cornish coastline, but the addition of our new Barrel Bar and the transformation of the indoor bar – which is the first thing our guests see when they enter – has been well received. Visually, the pub looks even better than before, and it’s given us an opportunity to expand our offerings too!”

As part of the £80k investment, the inside bar has also been given a fresh new look, in keeping with the pub’s aesthetic but with added charm and elegance. Renowned for its local craft drinks, real ales, and lovingly crafted cocktails, the pub’s refreshed interior adds even more character for guests to enjoy their favourite tipple.

Dan added: “The Barrel Bar has been a real hit with guests and tourists who are loving the pizzas and outdoor area. We’ve also recruited a couple of extra members to join the Inn on the Shore team, which is always welcomed by the local community.

“I’m passionate about this industry, and having been in it for a long time, I’m focused on making positive changes to ensure The Inn on the Shore remains at the heart of our community for a long time. Our recent investment ensures that we’re giving our guests further reasons to visit, and above everything, we’re helping to give them memorable experiences. For us, it’s about keeping our guests happy, and I’m thrilled that our recent investment has brought so much joy. Here’s to many more years of that!”

The Inn on the Shore continues to be a destination pub with a difference, offering midweek specials on their authentic pub food, a summer rosé festival running through to the 30th of September, and not forgetting a selection of double and twin rooms to enjoy a longer stay with breathtaking views.
