The Black Bull in Kidlington, Oxford, has been given a new lease of life following a £230, 000 investment by independent pub owners Punch.

The investment included a full internal brighter decoration and furniture creating more areas for dining and drinking. New exterior lighting and redecoration makes this much-loved community pub stand out.

The pub reopens with local businessman, Carl Boswell at the helm. Carl owns 3 other business’s in the area and is looking forward to entering the world of pubs. Together with his team, led by the pub’s new manager, Stuart Lovick, they have plans to bring the pub back to the heart of the community.

Speaking about the investment Carl said “I’m really excited to be here at The Black Bull, the pub looks fantastic. The changes have really done the place proud. Stuart and I have great plans to ensure The Black Bull remains at the very heart of the community welcoming customers old and new to come and enjoy their time with us.’’

The pub will host live music events, karaoke nights and everyone’s favourite pub quiz as well as all key sporting events throughout the year, showing Sky and BT sports across 6 screens in the pub. Carl and Stuart are also on the look out for keen darts and pool players who want to start a pub team.

Punch’s Regional Operations Director, Ed Passey said, “This is a substantial investment by Punch in a well-established community pub, and it looks fantastic! Carl, Stuart and the team have lots of plans for the future and we very much look forward to continuing to work together to create a bright future for The Black Bull.’’

Punch owns and operates 1300 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales and is investing £32 million in its pub estate in the next year with the right Publicans running their pubs.
