The Top House pub in Bulwell, Nottingham, has reopened with a bang this week following a transformative £250k investment from leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.

After being closed for five weeks to allow the extensive refurbishment to take place, guests have been eagerly awaiting the return of their beloved local – and they haven’t been disappointed. The refreshed pub has already received fantastic feedback from the community.

At the helm are long-standing Management Partners Darren Faulkner and Marie Higgins, who have proudly run The Top House for 13 years. Both are integral to the Bulwell community and are thrilled with the investment, eager to welcome guests back and showcase the pub’s next chapter.

Darren said: “The investment at the pub looks amazing – we couldn’t be happier! So much hard work has gone into this, and we want to thank Punch and our Operations Manager, Mark, for their continued support. We really pride ourselves on offering a fantastic community pub, and this investment means we can continue doing what we do best – in an even better environment that our guests love.”

The £250k investment spans every corner of The Top House. A key focus has been reintroducing sports, with the creation of a dedicated zone offering front‑row seats for the world’s biggest sporting events, plus a new area designed specifically for darts and pool enthusiasts.

To keep up with increasing demand, and just in time for summer, an additional bar has also been added, boasting a fresh aesthetic. The redesign introduces new colour palettes, carpets and furniture throughout, brightening the space and giving it a renewed sense of energy.

Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager, Mark Gardner, said: “The Top House is a fantastic pub for the community, and it’s something we’re incredibly proud of. This investment has breathed new life into this much-loved pub. It’s a great way to invest in great Management Partners, too – Darren and Marie run a brilliant pub, and I’m excited for their continued future success here.”

A major player in the local area, The Top House remains committed to being at the heart of Bulwell, ensuring every guest that walks through their doors is welcomed into a safe, inclusive environment.

With anticipation building over recent weeks, Darren, Marie and the team are now ready to reopen their doors for a celebratory weekend packed with live music, disco, and karaoke.
