The Shield & Dagger pub in Bristol’s Whitchurch has reopened with new management partners (MPs) embarking on a fresh new chapter.

Now led by Brendan and Lisa, a dynamic hospitality duo with years of experience across the pub industry, the Shield & Dagger is entering a new chapter rooted in community spirit and warm hospitality.

Lisa shared: “From the moment we first saw the pub, we knew it had incredible potential. From our first interview with Operations Manager Mark to the final signing, we’ve been clear about our passion for people and the community.

“We want our pub to be everyone’s go-to – an inclusive hub where everyone feels welcome. We’re already planning events and activities to bring the whole community together, but more than anything, we want the atmosphere to reflect who we are: warm, welcoming, and full of heart.”

While taking on the pub together was a bold step, Brendan and Lisa are no strangers to the industry. Drawing on their combined experience, they’ve carefully curated a fresh new look and feel for the Shield & Dagger – which their guests are already raving about.

One of their first introductions as MPs was coffee mornings, offering hot drinks and cakes to passers-by, school-run parents or anyone looking for a casual breakfast.

They’ve also launched a packed social calendar designed to appeal to every corner of the community – from weekly quizzes and bingo nights to live music, free children’s activity sessions, and their already-popular Diva Brunch. Brendan and Lisa are determined to offer something for everyone.

Brendan added: “We want to be known for excellence – a step up from what guests may have been used to. Listening is key, which is why we’ve engaged with our community every step of the way. We want people to know we’ve heard them, we’ve acted on their feedback, and we’re building a pub they’ll love coming back to.”

It’s not just Brendan and Lisa leading the transformation. The Shield & Dagger’s existing team is joining them on this exciting new journey, alongside a newly appointed Chef who will be creating their selection of dirty fries, small bites, and pizzas, with the community already engaged in the online competition to rename their famous house pizza.

As they continue to embed themselves into the heart of the community, Brendan, Lisa and the team are looking forward to celebrating their first Christmas at the Shield & Dagger – welcoming the community to join in on the festive cheer.

More information about upcoming events at the pub can be found on their website and social media pages.
