The Royal Standard pub has new Publicans behind the bar, and they’ve reassured the community that they’re in it for the long-haul.

The running of the charming pub, nestled in the heart of the historic Georgian Quarter in Beverley, now falls to Paul and Deborah Perkins who arrive with 15 years’ experience.

Having signed a long-term agreement with Punch, Paul and Deborah are excited to integrate into the local community. “I am originally from South Africa”, Deborah shared. “I have lived in the UK for 20 years and am now looking to put down some roots. We’re committed to the pub and want this to be a place people can relax, socialise and enjoy their time.”

Paul is keen to re-establish the Royal Standard in the community. He added: “We are working hard to elevate the pub amongst the community and restore an element of pride into what we believe is a fantastic pub. I understand there has been a bit of upheaval previously but we’re here to stay!”

The publicans have plans for regular quiz nights, bingo, disco and karaoke, as well as a darts team.

The Royal Standard is a Grade II listed building which boasts a cosy bar area and a lounge which are separated by a central bar. Both rooms have a warm feel, with original beams, exposed brick and plenty of comfortable seating. The pub also benefits from an outdoor courtyard which the duo expects to be used heavily across the summer months.

Paul Hutchinson, Operations Manager at Punch Pubs & Co added: “Paul and Deborah are the perfect Publicans to take the reins at the Royal Standard. This is a fantastic pub, and I’m excited to be supporting them on their journey and look forward to witnessing their success.”

More information about the pub, upcoming events and their popular craft ale offering can be found on the Royal Standard’s social media pages.
