Elswick pub in shipshape after major refresh

The Ship pub in Elswick, Lancashire, has reopened following a £400k investment by independent pub operators Punch Pubs & Co, with Management Partner Jamie Beaumont taking the helm.

This major refresh has transformed The Ship into a true countryside haven, fusing traditional old-world charm with a modern finish throughout its cosy interiors and garden, making it the perfect place to visit with the whole family.

A new al fresco oasis has been created, with an outside play area for children, luscious green lawn and festoon lighting, along with a refreshed bar and dining area with warm snugs and roaring fires, and a private dining area, complete with chandelier and a gorgeous open fire.

Supplying ingredients for the pubs sumptuous new menu will be the Queens’s butcher Aubrey Allen, which sees quintessential British classics rub shoulders with modern bistro dishes, as well as plenty of small plates perfect for nibbling on with drinks.

From sipping a refreshing cocktail under the new garden stretch tent, to enjoying an intimate fireside dining experience, this hidden gem is the perfect place for locals to feel at home and visitors from nearby Blackpool and Preston to escape the hustle and bustle.

Management Partner Jamie who’s lived locally most of his life, says, “I’m excited to welcome guests all aboard The Ship and share the results of this fantastic investment. The Ship’s now so much more than just a ’great’ pub – it’s a beautifully finished, rustic and relaxing retreat for all to enjoy.  The transformation is truly phenomenal, I’m particularly delighted with the menu and cannot wait for families to enjoy it alongside this fabulous backdrop.”

Operations Director Robin Belither says, “We are so proud to be reopening The Ship and unveiling its beautiful new look. It’s a magnificent country pub, and this investment has given it the new lease of life it needed. Not only this, but our new Management Partner Jamie is the perfect person to steer it to success.”
