This summer, The Dog House pub in Kennington, welcomed back the community following a remarkable transformation by leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.
With earlier works starting in May, the focus on the investment was to deliver an impactful refresh of the much-loved and distinctive pub, while retaining the same character that guests know and adore.
The first phase of the investment prioritised a renovation of The Dog House’s internal areas, using reclaimed materials where necessary and antique-sourced furnishings. The result was a new design that drew inspiration from an opulent Indian summer, layered with warmth, texture and considered detail that not only elevated the pub, but also honoured its heritage.
The second, and most recent phase to be completed, was an overhaul of the pub’s external areas. Now open and trading, the space has been redefined to offer a relaxing oasis to enjoy the warmer months, season of sport and to indulge in the pub’s new menu of authentic pub food and modern bistro dishes.
A drastic change to what once was, guests will find that the pub’s new outdoor space features an outdoor pergola that has been dressed in new planters and foliage to create a scenic space a million miles away from city life.
Now that the investment is complete, Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager Jane Mckenna is looking forward to guests revisiting their local and soaking up the pub’s new atmosphere. She said: “I’m so pleased with the transformation at The Dog House and proud to be supporting the team here. The investment has delivered not only a beautiful pub, but one that the community can be proud of. We’ve already received positive feedback and are now focused on trading through the summer months and into the rest of the year, ensuring we remain as a thriving hub for locals and visitors alike.”
