Liverpool’s much‑loved Globe pub has reopened following a mammoth investment from leading pub company, Punch Pubs & Co.

Not only has the pub unveiled a refreshed look, but it’s also welcomed a new Management Partner to the helm, Charlotte Johnson, who brings over three decades of hospitality experience to ensure the city-centre pub continues to thrive.

Charlotte steps into the role after long-standing Publicans Brian and Sue, who retired earlier this year after an impressive 25 years at the helm. Speaking about her new chapter at The Globe, Charlotte said she “couldn’t wait to get started” and praised the strong community built by her predecessors. She added that her priority is to continue that legacy while offering guests a local experience they can be proud of, with great value and diverse entertainment at its heart.

Just a stone’s throw from Liverpool Central Station and within easy reach of Lime Street, The Globe has been a city staple for commuters, students, shoppers and tourists for generations. Known for its distinctive sloping floors, walls lined with historic photographs and nearly 50 years of CAMRA heritage, the pub’s character remains firmly intact following the refurbishment.

The huge investment has transformed the building inside and out. The exterior has been fully redecorated across three floors with the addition of new signage, including a striking illuminated globe feature. Inside, the pub has been redecorated while preserving heritage elements such as mural artwork, original joinery and traditional character pieces. New carpets and refurbished wooden floors give the bar areas a warm, fresh feel, while updated lighting, blinds and reupholstered seating enhance comfort throughout.

Now part of the growing Unity Social portfolio, The Globe continues to champion great‑value drinks with a strong focus on cask ale, maintaining both CAMRA and Cask Marque accreditation.

To mark its reopening weekend on the 6th of February, the long-standing team, who join Charlotte in her new venture, distributed 500 loyalty cards to locals, kicking off a renewed push to strengthen community ties. To further embed themselves into the community, team Globe will also partner with local charities and invite local community groups to take part in launch events and new sponsorships involving city businesses and student sports teams.

Punch Pubs & Co Senior Operations Manager, Rachael Henry, added: “We’re incredibly proud to invest in one of Liverpool’s most historic pubs. This investment respects The Globe’s heritage while equipping it for the future, delivering great value, brilliant sport, and a warm welcome every day. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back.”
