The Spice Ship pub in Weymouth has gone down a storm after reopening following our full refurbishment thanks to £350,000 worth of investment!

This early nineteenth-century inn and Grade II listed building has been given a new shipshape look without sacrificing any of its historical charm and character. The facelift includes a tidying up of the pub’s exterior, with new signage installed, and an extensive interior refurbishment, including a new-look kitchen, toilets and bars.

New fixtures and fittings throughout, including reclaimed feature panelling and nautical wallpaper, are in keeping with the pub’s character, and customers can enjoy new outdoor seating and timber decking along with plenty of entertainment, including regular quiz nights, meat raffles, charity nights and pool and darts teams.

Publican Stephen Brown are experienced local operators and have great plans to rejuvenate the pub which will have a strong community vibe, providing a unique environment for guests to enjoy the new menu, which features pub classics and an ever-changing specials board, along with the wide range of cask ales and premium lagers, and an extensive wine and spirits list.

Stephen said: “We’re delighted with the new pub and the response from our customers has been that they love the refurbishment. Our new menu has gone down a storm!
“We’ve been welcoming families, old customers and new faces that we haven’t seen before that we’re so glad to see at the pub.
“We have lots planned over the next few weeks, including fundraising and quiz nights, and we’re all looking forward to a great Christmas!”

Punch’s Managing Director, Andy Spencer, said: “This is a significant investment by Punch in a great community pub and we are pleased with the new look created. With Stephen at the helm, we are confident that The Spice Ship will go from strength to strength operating at the very heart of the community it serves.”

Punch owns and operates 1,200 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales and has big plans to unlock phenomenal pub possibilities for entrepreneurs and communities across the UK by investing £34 million in its people and pubs in the next year.
