The Marine Bar & Kitchen in Liverpool’s Waterloo has opened under new management with pub passionate local, Jason Foulder at the helm.
Jason, who has been in the hospitality industry for over a decade, is on a mission to revive the pub, and he has big ambitions to make it the go-to place in the town.
He said: “I’m really excited by the opportunity here and I’m looking forward to turning the Marine around. We’re starting with the basics; getting the pub back to serving good food, and good drinks within a brilliant atmosphere.
“The food side of the business is really important to me, there’s so much potential here, and with our generous outdoor space, the capacity for guests almost triples in size during the warmer months. Our Festive menu is looking great and I’m looking forward to welcoming guests new and old to our taster evening this November (28th). I want us to be known for dishing up authentic, hearty, and tasty pub classics!”
The Marine’s new menus are seasonally inspired, currently highlighting an exceptional festive selection. Guests can begin with indulgent starters like chicken liver and brandy pâté or crispy brie wedges. For mains, a sumptuous festive burger with beef dripping gravy, a mushroom bourguignon pie or pan-fried salmon, and to finish, traditional favourites such as Christmas pudding with boozy fruits or a cherry sundae with Belgian waffle are all available.
Guests may also notice a new drinks range behind the bar, which now brings the best collection of big names and flavours. From bottled beers and lagers, to wine, spirits and soft, their vast collection caters to every kind of pub visit. Not forgetting their extensive cocktail menu featuring classics like Long Island Iced Teas, Woo Woos and Martinis available on a midweek offer of two for £10 running Monday to Thursday.
Aside from the addition of seasonal menus and impressive drinks range at the Marine, Jason’s other passion is music, and his big plans to host live music nights at the pub are also expected to firmly cement the Marine as the heart of the community.
“I’m a big fan of ambience and giving our guests a reason to visit, entertaining them and bringing back regular artists,” Jason added. “Everywhere I’ve worked previously, we’ve always hosted live music, and I personally love to go to a pub, especially on a Sunday where there’s a local artist performing there. I want to recreate that vibe at the Marine, and bring the music scene indoors too!”
Jason has already introduced live music events at the Marine, and he has secured a stellar line-up of live music acts who will help to entertain guests from now until the New Year. Confirmed events include tribute nights and acoustic Sunday sets, whilst guests can also enjoy fortnightly quizzes every Monday starting on the 25th of November.
He continued: “I want us to offer something that no one else does. We would be the first pub in the area to introduce a regular event schedule, and if it doesn’t work – at least we tried! For me it’s about being open and inclusive, not being afraid to think outside of the box, and importantly, to have fun whilst doing it.”
It’s not just a new entertainment schedule and food offering that Jason is bringing to the Marine, he also has a Christmas pop-up shop and market scheduled for the 8th of December from 12 noon to 6 pm, and a charity event in February, with many more plans in the pipeline.
