Punch Pubs & Co has won the award for Best Leased & Tenanted Pub Company at the finals of the Publican Awards 2020.

The independent pub operator, with its head office in Burton upon Trent and pubs up and down the country, was presented with the prestigious award by comedian Rob Beckett at the awards evening at Battersea Evolution on 4th March.

Punch has taken huge steps forwards over the last year, investing over £35 million in its estate in 2019, unlocking phenomenal pub possibilities for entrepreneurs across the UK, as well as opening its new Welcome Inn at Punch HQ and The Academy – an industry leading training space with two fully working bars and a cellar, alongside a development kitchen, enabling Publicans to learn in a classroom, a pub and a kitchen at the same time.

Speaking about being crowned champion of Leased & Tenanted pub companies, Clive Chesser, CEO of Punch, said, “This is fantastic news and I am so proud of every one of our pubs and all our amazing people who make Punch what it is today. We all have a genuine passion for pubs and this award has shown that by running great pubs, we all win together.

“All of our Publicans deserve as much praise for this award because every day they make a difference through their hard work and by bringing the Great British Pub to life for their customers.”

Punch has nearly 1,300 pubs across the UK operated by independent Publicans who create unique community hubs. The company, with its head office in Burton upon Trent employs 250 people to support its pub estate.

Rob Beckett hosted the renowned Publican Awards event where 2,000 people from the pub and beer industry gathered to recognise and celebrate the success of the sector.
