What has been your career journey with Punch?

“After successfully completing the Punch Operations Manager (OM) Assessment Centre, I joined the business in August 2016 as a OM in the Lease and Tenanted Division, responsible for developing a patch of pubs across Manchester.

Being new to Lease and Tenanted and an industry regulated by the Pubs Code, my induction was an important opportunity to gain an insight into the business and build relationships with all the key stakeholders I would need.

My patch included some pubs which were under-performing, and I have loved having the autonomy and flexibility to think ‘what if’ and be creative about how they could be transformed.

There is a willingness to invest in our pubs, be entrepreneurial and change the future of those businesses.

It’s an exciting time for Punch as we move forward as a smaller business and I’m pleased to be part of it.”

What support and development have you had in your time at Punch?

“Completing my Level 5 qualification in Multi-Unit Management felt like a real investment in my development.  The ‘Reflections’ part of the course was really useful – being able to apply my learnings in a practical sense.

I have a really supportive team around me and found a natural mentor in long standing OM, Dave Daniel.  It has been great to have Dave to go to as a sounding board on a range of issues. I could also go through every Punch department and find someone who has supported me.”

What is it like working for Punch?

Working at Punch and particularly in my Region is brilliant. I have met and connected with some really great people.  I really like the vision for the way we run pubs and the focus on providing great service to our Publicans.  There is a really positive vibe where things get done.  My Regional Operations Director has a way of setting a goal and pulling the team together so that we always deliver.

Would you recommend working for Punch to others?

“Yes and I have done already!”
