Leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co has added to its growing portfolio with the acquisition of The Broken Bridge pub in Tadcaster.

The community-focused pub will sit within Punch’s Leased and Tenanted estate, and having bid farewell to long-standing Publicans Mick and Julie, who have been at the heart of the pub for little over a decade, it has welcomed experienced operator Doug Smith to the helm.

Speaking about the acquisition, Punch Pubs & Co Head of Acquisitions Andrew Cannons commented: “We’re delighted to have acquired this fantastic community pub, which already has a great reputation locally. I do not doubt that with Punch’s industry-leading training and support, and under the helm of Doug, the pub will continue to be run as the heart of the community, in Mick and Julie’s legacy, for many years to come.”

A generously sized pub, The Broken Bridge boasts multiple indoor rooms to suit all guest needs, as well as ample seating in its outdoor beer garden. It has become renowned for its home-cooked food offering, as well as the warm and friendly atmosphere that has made it a hit with local families.

Punch Pubs Operations Manager Jason Moran added: “Doug is a fantastic operator and has some exciting plans for the pub. His top priority is continuing the wonderful legacy that Mick and Julie have left behind, while ensuring the pub remains a community hub for everyone to enjoy. I’m looking forward to working with Doug and the team and witnessing even more success at this beloved local.”

Punch is continually on the lookout for more quality acquisitions, including packages and single-site opportunities that fit well with its modern and progressive vision and growth plans.
