Leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co has added to its growing portfolio with the acquisition of The Kings Head pub in the Dorset town of Poole from regional family brewer and pub company Hall & Woodhouse.

The traditional 16th-century pub, which sits just a street away from Poole Quay, will operate under Punch’s Management Partnerships estate and will be run by new Management Partners once it reopens this June.

Speaking about the acquisition, Punch Pubs & Co Head of Acquisitions, Andrew Cannons, commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome another high-quality pub into our Punch family. This is a fantastic pub with strong local roots and a wealth of opportunities. I do not doubt that with Punch’s industry-leading support and training, The Kings Head will continue to thrive for many years to come.”

The community favourite has a great reputation locally and offers a wide variety of entertainment as part of its weekly agenda for all guests to enjoy. It is well known for its welcoming atmosphere and varied entertainment schedule – a combination that promises to continue as the pub enters its new chapter.

Punch Pubs Operations Manager, Rachael Henry, added: “I’m thrilled to share that we are in the process of recruiting new Management Partners to oversee the running of this beautiful pub. Before we reopen with a new team, I’m delighted to say we will be investing in The Kings Head, giving the pub a fresh new look before it embarks on its new journey.”

Mark James, Property Director at Hall & Woodhouse, said: “Poole Quay in Dorset is home to several of our pubs, both in our Managed House and Business Partnership Estate. It is important to us as a business to continually reinvest into our pub estate to enhance our offer and give back to our guests.

“We recently invested close to £3million into the acquisition of The Quay and carried out a major refurbishment of our nearby Business Partner pub, The Lord Nelson.

“The King’s Head is a great pub, and we look forward to seeing how it develops under new ownership.”

Punch is continually on the lookout for more quality acquisitions, including packages and single-site opportunities that fit well with its modern and progressive vision and growth plans.
