Leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co has added to its growing portfolio with the acquisition of The Red Pig pub in Keighley.

Situated in Keighley, West Yorkshire, The Red Pig pub will reopen later this Summer following a significant investment by Punch, under the pub company’s Unity Social business unit.

Having expressed deep gratitude to former Publican Janet Balch, who ran the pub for 25 years, Punch is currently in the process of recruiting Unity Social partners to oversee the pub for long-term success.

Speaking about the acquisition, Punch Pubs & Co Head of Acquisitions, Andrew Cannons, commented: “I’m thrilled with the latest acquisition of The Red Pig; it’s a standout pub that truly has the community at the heart of it. A big thank you to vendor Robert Brown for helping to ensure this process was as smooth as possible.

“We’re completely aware of the presence this pub has locally, which is why, with our industry-leading investment and training, we do not doubt that the pub will continue to flourish and thrive as a community hub for many years to come.”

The much-loved community pub benefits from a strong local presence within a thriving market town. Over the years, it has built up a stellar reputation locally by regularly supporting community-led events.

Punch Pubs Senior Operations Manager Rachael Henry added: “I’d like to thank Janet for her dedication and hard work over the last 25 years; she really has built up a pub to be proud of, and I’m excited to be continuing her legacy. One thing is for sure: Janet’s passion for the pub, despite her moving on, hasn’t changed, and she will very much remain at the heart of its identity. I’m looking forward to recruiting a new team and working with them to ensure this pub remains a vital part of the town’s history.”

Punch is continually on the lookout for more quality acquisitions, including packages and single-site opportunities that fit well with its modern and progressive vision and growth plans.
