Leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co has partnered with location-based Augmented Reality (AR) experts Darabase, to launch a 3D digital colouring experience for children and families across their pubs.

Through the use of everyday technology, children will be able to bring their colourings to life in the immersive and exciting world of AR. This unique playful experience promises to entertain and inspire the whole family.

Found on our children’s menus, customers will use their mobile phone or tablet to scan the children’s colouring and see it come to life around them in immersive 3D animated pictures, just as the children coloured them. Parents can then take a photo of the moment and share it directly on their social media platforms to showcase the fun images to family and friends.

With around 1,300 pubs across the UK, Punch is trialling this new and innovative project across its Fireside concept in its Management Partnership estate, transforming kids’ menus to create an elevated and entertaining dining experience and drive footfall to local establishments.

The initiative was welcomed by Punch’s Head of Digital & Creative, James Goldsworthy, he said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Darabase on this new and exciting project. We are always looking at ways to elevate our in-pub experience for families with young children and this project aims to do just that. AR might seem like some far away technology, but we believe that through the simple activity of colouring in, children and their families will be able to create shared experiences that reach beyond the pub and connect with wider family and friendship groups. I can’t wait for our guests to try it out and bring their drawings to life.”

Dominic Collins, CEO and Co-founder of Darabase: “We’re absolutely delighted to be partnering with Punch Pubs on this project. At Darabase, we pride ourselves on being the leading technology partner for location-based AR experiences that drive footfall, inspire innovation and allow for user-generated content. By bringing children’s drawings to life in 3D through augmented reality, and allowing parents to share them, this project transforms the dining experience, making it interactive and fun for families.

“We’re confident this unique initiative will not only delight customers but also set Punch Pubs apart as a leader in experiential dining, creating memorable moments for families that go beyond the meal itself.”
