It’s now been over a month since the industry closed its doors to customers, but we continue to be amazed with how many of you have adapted to the huge challenge and continue to serve your local communities.

One stand out pub is the Red Lion in Cranford, Kettering, who continues to operate right at the heart of its local community.

Publicans Richard and Sonja have set up the “Greedy Gordons Shop” and are delivering to a number different villages in the local area. The shop sells and delivers products including fresh fish, a huge variety of meats, fruit, vegetables, bread, milk, cheese and ice cream! Not to mention chocolate, sweets, beer, toilet rolls, firewood logs and much more…

Orders are taken via the Red Lion’s private delivery service Facebook Page, and deliveries are made on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. As long as orders are placed by 2pm the day before, delivery is guaranteed the very next day! They ask customers to leave a bag for life on their doorstep, ready for the goods to be unloaded in to. To comply with social distancing, they then ring the doorbell and move back – ready for customers to take in their goods.

As the weather has warmed up, Richard & Sonya now even sell a ready-made BBQ pack! Complete with everyone’s favourite beef burger and sausages, Cajun chicken breasts and Chimichurri beef kebabs are also amongst the huge range of products available. Customers can even then add on ribeye steaks for an additional cost!

The pair have been busy promoting their pub shop through Facebook so customers can see what’s on offer without even needing to leave the house. It’s fair to say it’s gone down a treat…
