The Plough pub in Effingham, Surrey, has reopened with a dramatic new look thanks to a mammoth investment from leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.

The popular village pub closed for six weeks from New Year’s Day, whilst major renovations took place, and many were eager to see its return.

On Tuesday the 4th of February, the Plough reopened with all areas of the pub refurbed including internal and external redecorations, new signage, and a brand-new food menu.

Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager, Chris Reich is delighted with the changes, he said: “The Plough is a fantastic pub which already had a stellar reputation within the community. Our mission was to only grow our guests’ love for their local by enhancing the pub to ensure it remains the hub of the village for many years to come.

“We promised a warm, inviting, traditional space for all to enjoy, and we’ve delivered. We’re proud to say that the Plough as people know it, has reopened, and we’re excited to see what the future brings here.”

Management Partners Dom and Shell echoed the same sentiments: “We’re truly grateful for everybody’s patience whilst we settle in. The good old Plough is here to stay, just with a new lick of paint and some extra special touches.

“We couldn’t wait for our locals and guests new and old to see our exciting renovations and we look forward to welcoming anybody who wishes to come by, enjoy a drink and celebrate this new chapter with us.”

Noticeably, the characteristics of the Plough, including its rustic charm, have been retained by the investment. Its focus was to enhance the pub with new fittings and fixtures, extending the food menu and drinks offerings and bringing a cosy, sophisticated feel.

New to the pub’s drinks range is a vast cocktail menu containing classics like Espresso Martinis and Margaritas, draught beers, ciders and spirits, and a dining-in menu with enticing and timeless dishes of beer-battered fish and chips, eight-hour slow-cooked belly of pork and a lamb shepherd’s pie with cheddar mash.

Locals and visitors can also pick from seasonal menus and specials with their new Valentine’s menu, sumptuous Sunday lunches and two-course supper club menu available every Thursday.

To complement the charming character of the restaurant, an inviting, snug area boasting upholstered stools, alongside eclectic tables and brass wall lights, provide a warm ambience to unwind, dine or relax amongst.

Locals have also rejoiced at the return of the Plough’s renowned quiz night, featuring every Wednesday from 7 pm, and rave reviews of the investment have been shared online, with guests expressing their delight at their beloved local being open and trading again.

You can find more information about the pub and upcoming events online and via social media.
