A much-loved Ashton-under-Lyne pub is beginning a brand‑new chapter, following a £280,000 investment from leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.

After five weeks behind closed doors, The Corporation Arms, fondly known as The Corporation, reopened on Thursday, the 19th of February.

For generations, it has proudly stood on the busy Junction of Stockport Road, serving as a familiar meeting place where locals have celebrated milestones, cheered on Manchester United and enjoyed the comfort of a pint among friends.

Now, with its bold new look and renewed purpose, the pub is stepping confidently back into the heart of the community life, with the Robertson family proudly at the helm.

Craig, who has been the guiding force of The Corporation for more than 30 years, has earned a reputation for warmth, dependability and a commitment to running a proper community pub. Alongside his wife Abbi and daughters Emma and Victoria, their presence brings familiarity, ensuring that although the pub’s surroundings may have changed, the pub’s soul remains firmly intact.

Craig said: “If you’re stepping out for a night with friends, we want The Corporation to be the first place that comes to mind – a great atmosphere, great value and a genuine welcome.”

With a focus on elevating customer experience, the recent investment promises great value, a buzzing entertainment schedule and a welcoming sports-led environment. From early-week bingo and karaoke to lively weekend music, the pub now offers a full programme designed to give people more reasons to visit, socialise and feel a part of something special – lovingly created by the Robertson family.

The £280k refurbishment has transformed the entire pub with refreshed internal areas, eye-catching new signage, and a dedicated darts and sports zone area. The new entertainment system is one of the pub’s standout improvements, complete with state-of-the-art technology, enabling the pub to show up to three live sports events at once. With strong racing channel coverage during the week and a major focus on football, Craig hopes his pub will become the go-to spot for sports enthusiasts seeking front row seats to the world’s best games.

The reopening of The Corporation Arms marks a renewed dedication to serving and celebrating the local community. The Robertson family are committed to strengthening ties with locals and community groups by forming new partnerships with local charities and fundraising teams, supporting sports clubs through sponsorship and events, and hosting pool and darts leagues for guests to enjoy.

After the successful reopening on the 19th of February, Craig, Abbi, Emma and Victoria are looking forward to welcoming the community back through their doors, ensuring their pub remains the place to be to make memories and continue traditions for many years to come.
