Transformational investment gives new lease of life to epic community pub

The Derwent Arms in Malton is unrecognisable following our £315,000 investment with Publicans, Alan and Sam remaining at the helm.

This well-established community pub sits at the heart of the beautiful market town of Malton, located on the boundary between the North and East Ridings of Yorkshire. It welcomes local residents and those who visit the village for its traditional food shops and ‘Made in Malton’ artisan producers.

The pub has been refurbished inside and out to create a traditional, warm country feel that is complimented with deep wooden furnishing, booth seating and enhanced facilities.

Works included the removal of the existing raised seating area to create a more open space for customers to enjoy all this pub has to offer.

Publican, Alan has been running the Derwent Arms since August 2019 and will continue to run the pub in partnership with his best friend Sam Moseley. The two have a great connection with the community and feel a real bond with the regular customers and are keen to continue to welcome new customers who visit Malton.

Speaking about the investment Alan said “We are really excited to be back open, welcoming customers old and new to come and see their new look local. The pub looks great. Sam and I have lots of plans to bring the pub back to life ensuring the Derwent Arms remains the hub of the community”

The pub relaunched with a new food menu for customers to enjoy alongside its extensive range of quality lager, cask and craft beers as well as a wide selection of spirits and wines.

The Derwent Arms has Sky, BT and Amazon sports and will show all key sporting events throughout the year across its five newly installed TV’s. The pub remains home to three darts teams, two pool teams and the local football team Malton and Norton FC and will continue to offer regular live entertainment. Alan and Sam also plan to reintroduce a quiz night.

Punch’s Managing Director, Andy Spencer said, “This is a significant investment by Punch with Alan and Sam who have already established their position within the Derwent Arms. By recognising great people like Alan and Sam and continuing to work with them, we have together developed an even better pub for the area and local community”
