After three weeks of welcoming guests back to its refurbished surroundings, The Golden Cock pub is thriving once again in the heart of Farnley Tyas.

Following a five‑week closure in February, the beloved pub was completely transformed by leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co, unveiling a fresh new look when it opened in mid-March. Since then, guests have been raving about their local, praising the changes and celebrating its return.

The investment focused on enhancing the pub’s reputation as one of the area’s most-loved food-led destinations. As a result, the Golden Cock has undergone a remarkable transformation, refreshing the interiors while carefully preserving the traditional character long‑time guests value.

Thrilled with the changes and excited to be operating the new‑look pub, Management Partner Ben Rosson commented: “It’s been a real pleasure to welcome back some familiar faces as well as getting to know new guests. With our extended spaces internally and externally, we hope to continue to be the go-to place in Huddersfield – come rain or shine – for a great pub experience and a warm Yorkshire welcome.”

The impressive extended dining area now opens onto a new terrace, complete with fresh lighting, stylish furniture, a retractable awning and carefully curated border planting, has created a flexible, all‑year‑round space for casual socialising, dining and celebrations.

Inside, the newly remodelled bar area features the addition of pendant lighting, creating a welcoming focal point alongside carefully chosen artwork and bric‑a‑brac that brings warmth and personality. Furniture has also been upgraded and, in many cases, restored, complemented by decorative lighting, patterned blinds, rugs and updated furnishings.

Outside, the Golden Cock has been re‑energised with upgraded flooring, new planting and improved seating zones, ready to welcome both regular guests and walkers looking to soak up the surrounding countryside.

Taking to social media to share their delight, guests have left glowing reviews, including: “Impressed with the alterations and friendly staff, food was excellent too.”

“The refurbishment is great, love the new dining room, food was lovely.”

“The new décor is stylish, and the pub feels like a totally new place!”

Now settled back into their new surroundings, Ben and the team are enjoying hosting their regular line‑up of entertainment and welcoming guests with the same warm, friendly hospitality they’ve become renowned for.

With the new Spring/Summer menu now launched, they’re hoping to attract even more visitors as the brighter days draw in.
