The Granby Hotel and pub in the seaside town of Whitby reopened its doors this May following a £280k transformation, led by leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.

At the heart of this new chapter are Management Partners Steve and Claire Parker, an experienced hospitality duo ready to make their mark. For Claire, the opportunity is a dream realised.

Having long aspired to work and live in Whitby, she jumped at the opportunity to take on the characterful pub and has embraced the new venture with open arms.

Claire said: “Taking on The Granby is a dream come true for me. I’ve always wanted to live and work in Whitby, so to be able to bring this fantastic pub back to life alongside Steve is incredibly special.

“We’re so proud of the transformation – it still has all the character people know and love, but with a fresh, welcoming feel that we hope both locals and visitors will really enjoy. The warm reception we’ve had so far has meant everything to us, and we can’t wait to build on that as we head into what we hope will be a brilliant summer.”

Just a half mile from the waterfront, The Granby has always been a hit with locals and tourists alike. Now, following its transformation, it’s back and better than ever – combining its much-loved charm with a fresh, welcoming feel.

New to The Granby Hotel, and a noticeable feature, is its brand-new open fire. A characterful addition, it has been warmly embraced, adding a focal point for cosy evenings. Elsewhere inside, guests will find a beautifully refreshed space, complete with new décor, updated flooring and seating, perfect for everything from relaxed dining to casual drinks.

Entertainment remains a key part of The Granby’s appeal. It has now been upgraded with live sports and an enhanced entertainment system to enjoy the upcoming summer of sport and to create a consistent weekly rhythm, with live music nights continuing throughout the year.

The food and drinks menu has also been refreshed, offering something for every occasion. From chef’s specials to lunch club favourites and the traditional Sunday roast, alongside pub classics and indulgent desserts, guests are set to be spoilt for choice by the new offer, all washed down with a vast range of drinks.

Since introducing themselves in the early stages of investment via the pub’s social media pages, Claire, Steve, and the team have already received a warm welcome by the local community, with early visitors praising the new look, friendly service and updated offer.

Reopening just as the peak season gets underway, The Granby is perfectly placed for a busy summer, with the team eager to re-welcome guests old and new.

More information about the pub and its upcoming events can be found on its website and social media pages.
