Beloved local pub, The Harrier, formerly known as The Hatfield Tap, has welcomed guests back through its doors with a refreshed look, a renewed identity and a lively new focus on sport, entertainment and community occasions.

Not only has it reverted to its old name – drawing on the town’s British aviation heritage – but the pub has also begun a new chapter under the leadership of new Management Partner, Richard Fuller, supported by the existing team, Laura, Kenzie, Jules, Cathal and Spencer, who are vital to the pub’s identity and its future.

Richard, who continues to run The Star in South Harrow successfully, brings his experience of creating vibrant, welcoming pub experiences to Hatfield, and his ambition is clear.

“I want to bring back the true local pub,” he said. “A place built around the values and needs of the local community, whilst being attractive to everyone. From our neighbours to the local students and everyone else, we want everyone to feel welcomed and valued at The Harrier.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the team, who are the real heroes here. Laura has been a part of the pub for 16 years, and between her and the team, they truly make it the fantastic place that it has become renowned for.”

With thanks to the investment, the key parts of the pub’s offer remain intact, but the renewed excitement comes from a refresh of its outdoor area, a brand-new menu and a bigger focus on live sport, entertainment and games.

The new menu, which has already been a hit with guests, offers proper pub classics with a twist of indulgent flavours, perfectly paired with the updated drinks range. From traditional family favourites and small plates to stacked burgers and delicious desserts, the offering promises to satisfy every craving.

Looking ahead, The Harrier will deliver a thriving weekly entertainment experience for guests, with something different to look forward to each day. From big matchdays and social drinks to events and community gatherings, the aim is to create a fun, easy-going local that appeals to regulars, students and visitors alike.

With its spacious beer garden, appetising food menu, live sport, pub games, and flexible function space for celebrations and special occasions, it is designed to serve every kind of visit – from a casual drink with friends to a meal out or a big-game atmosphere.

With the doors back open and a fresh new chapter underway, The Harrier has been welcoming the community back in.

Information about the pub and its upcoming events can be found online or via the pub’s social media.
