The Isabella pub in Blyth, Northumberland reopened its doors following our £220,000 investment. The Isabella will continue to be run by local Publicans, Kay and Paul Murdy, who have been at the helm for 13 years.

The refurbishment has included a full internal and external renovation and new exterior signage. The inside of the pub has been transformed to create more space in which customers can meet. The outdoor space has been completely overhauled to create an area that is more inviting and family friendly. The existing beer garden has been replaced with a children’s play area and part of the carpark has been utilised to create a new decked seating area illuminated with festoon lighting, allowing customers to enjoy sunny days and warmer evenings.

Landlords, Kay and Paul are passionate about the community they live in and work hard all year organising regular events at the pub and raising thousands of pounds for local causes making the Isabella pub the hub of the community. Speaking about the investment Kay said; ‘’We are so happy to be back open; the investment has really done the pub proud. It looks fantastic. We can’t wait to welcome all our customers back to their local pub and share with them all our plans for the future.’’

The pub has a great reputation for providing regular live music events and is home to several pool and darts teams. Kay and Paul will continue to serve an extensive range of lagers, gins and wine. The pub has also launched a new snack menu, available all day until 10pm, which includes pulled pork topped nachos and a range of panini’s and toasted sandwiches.

Punch’s Managing Director, Andy Spencer said, “This is a significant investment by Punch in a great community pub and we are pleased to continue working with Kay and Paul who are fantastic pub operators. With them both at the helm, we are confident that the Isabella will continue to be at the very heart of the community it serves. ‘’

Punch owns and operates 1300 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales and is investing £32 million in its pub estate in the next year with the right Publicans running their pubs.
