The Oak Tree Inn in Darlington is undergoing a transformative investment with leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co, ahead of its reopening to the community this May.

The significant £415k investment by Punch is designed to restore the much-loved local to its warm, countryside roots and re-establish it as a thriving hub for families, no matter the occasion.

Having been closed for a considerable period, the community have long awaited its return and is set to be delighted by its refreshed look, combining traditional character and modern comfort.

Punch Pubs & Co Operations Manager, Julie Richardson, said: “We are really looking forward to unveiling the new Oak Tree Inn and cannot wait to welcome guests back through its doors. This investment is incredibly exciting and will revitalise the pub into a stylish, welcoming country pub for everyone.

“We’re still on the lookout for a new team and Management Partners to see it through to success, and welcome anybody interested in the opportunity to reach out to our recruitment team.”

The transformation focuses on restoring the building’s character, enhancing its dining and social spaces, and reviving its outdoor areas.

Guests can expect a refreshed countryside-inn feel with exposed wooden beams where possible, soft furnishings and a warm, relaxed atmosphere. A new log burner will create an inviting focal point throughout the colder months, while the contemporary décor scheme will bring soft textures and timeless furniture, including new tables, chairs and rugs.

Externally, the space will be completely redesigned to offer a mix of seating, planters and festoon lighting – perfect for alfresco drinks and dining. At the heart of the pub’s renewed offer will be its new menu, focused on quality Sunday lunches, seasonal dishes and decadent pub classics. These will also play a key role in a calendar of community and family-friendly events throughout the year.

While the physical evolution of the Oak Tree Inn is well underway, it will be its long-term Management Partners who will be essential in rewriting its new story. The exciting opportunity remains open for hospitality leaders who share the vision of making the pub the beating heart of its community.
