The Railway Vue pub in Impington temporarily closed this September to undergo a total transformation thanks to a mammoth investment from Punch Pubs & Co.
Preparing to reopen in style, Publican Daniel Johnson is excited about the pub’s new prospects and is solely focused on ensuring The Railway Vue remains a welcoming and community hub.
The epic transformation spans from the inside out, featuring aesthetic upgrades, a refreshed food and drink offering, and new faces taking the helm.
Taking over the day-to-day running of the pub are Chris and Mel, experienced hospitality professionals whose background lies in curating community pubs with guests at the very heart of them, which is a primary focus of Daniel’s, ensuring that The Railway Vue remains the cornerstone of Impington.
He said: “The transformation of The Railway Vue is incredibly exciting, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this new chapter. Chris and Mel are fantastic Publicans, and I’m confident they will steer this beloved pub to success.
“As the beating heart of our communities, it’s vital that we invest in our pubs so that they can continue to flourish. This investment has truly breathed new life into The Railway Vue, which I’m sure our guests, both old and new, will be delighted with.”
The investment at the Railway Vue covers every corner of the pub, from internal decorations to outside signage and an upgraded beer garden.
The pub’s eye-catching new look has caught the attention of many people locally, with its strikingly bold new colour scheme, refreshed beer garden and festoon lighting. “I’ve spent a lot of time at the pub over the last few weeks, and every day a member of the community has complimented the changes and how things are taking shape,’ Daniel added. “Despite how challenging transforming and reopening a pub can be, it makes it so worthwhile when the people we’re doing it for are happy.”
Moving indoors, the pub’s new aesthetic boasts feature lighting, patterned blinds, bric-a-brac and shelving, creating a warmer ambience with existing furniture being recovered and reupholstered to match the new vibe. And, with a new look comes a new offering, with new drinks deals, ciders and ales having been introduced to the bar.
While works are still underway to perfect it, the pub’s kitchen has also received an upgrade and will soon be offering a brand new menu of home-cooked, traditional pub classics.
But one thing that hasn’t changed is the pub’s desire to be a hub within the community, specifically being renowned for its sports teams and entertainment line-up, which will include a weekly quiz, meat raffle and live music nights. The Railway Vue will continue to be a thriving hotspot where everyone is welcome.
With a soft launch planned for this weekend, Chris, Mel and the team are eager to welcome guests back to a revitalised Railway Vue, which has already received glowing feedback across social media.
