The Royal Hotel in the village of Bolton-le- Sands, Lancaster, has reopened following our £500,000 investment, and will continue to be run by experienced operator, Jason Allison.

The investment has breathed new life into this much-loved community pub, with a full internal refurbishment to create a more modern, welcoming and contemporary environment. The pub’s seven en-suite lettings rooms have also been fully redecorated for guests to enjoy when visiting the area.

The pub boasts a spectacular canal-side beer garden which has been enhanced with benched seating, a prominent children’s play area and doggy stations for our four-legged friends, who are always welcome. The beer garden also has two quirky potting sheds, aptly named Bill and Ben, that have been re-purposed to create two individual seating pods with bench seating and a table.

Jason has been running the Royal Hotel for 6 months and has a wealth of experience in hospitality, having previously been an area manager for Mitchell’s of Lancaster, from whom Punch bought the Royal from earlier this year. He has a passion for real ale and is keen to ensure the pub maintains a good offering of quality beer having recently introduced the pubs very own, ‘Royal Pale Ale’.

Speaking about the investment Jason said, ‘’The investment has really done the pub proud; it looks fantastic. I’m so pleased to have the pub back open and trading, welcoming customer old and new to see their new look local. I love the Royal and have some really exciting plans for the future.’’

The pub will continue to offer an extensive range of quality cask, craft and world beers as well as premium spirits and a gin menu. A new food menu has been introduced with dishes designed and prepared by in-house chef, Rob. Using locally sourced produce where available, the menu includes sharing platters and pub classics and there’s even afternoon tea. Customers will be pleased to know the famous ‘Royal Roast’ is still available every Sunday. The pub will host all the key sporting events throughout the year whilst also providing regular live music events.

Punch’s Managing Director, Andy Spencer, said, “We are really pleased to have acquired this fantastic pub, the investment is significant, and we are really proud of the new look created. We are very much looking forward to working in partnership with Jason to create a bright future for the Royal Hotel.’’

Punch owns and operates 1300 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales and is investing £32 million in its pub estate in the next year with the right Publicans running their pubs.
