The Sun pub in Prescot reopened this March following a three‑week, £339,000 investment by leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.

The extensive renovation has refreshed both the interior and exterior of the pub, creating brighter, more welcoming and flexible spaces. Works include an upgraded main bar, improved snug, dedicated darts and pool area, enhanced AV for sport, refreshed seating, and a revitalised beer garden – all designed to support entertainment, sport and community use for everyone.

Reopening under a new identity, The Sun will operate under the core belief that no one is alone. Its major focus will be offering great value all day, every day, with something for everyone – from darts, pool and local sports teams to live sport on TV, live music and regular events.

Guests will also enjoy a vast drinks range, combining an impressive array of beers, spirits, softs, wines and ciders with spaces where the community can relax, connect and belong. Alongside its Punch neighbour, the Deanes House, The Sun proudly sits at the heart of Prescot, with both pubs playing a key role in the town’s social scene and delivering consistent, 5 star hospitality through great service and strong community connection.

Leading the relaunch are Rod and Clare Crosby, supported by a hands‑on family team, including Sharon, who returns to The Sun with many years of experience serving at the pub – bringing welcome familiarity alongside fresh energy.

“The Sun is one of Prescot’s oldest pubs and means a lot to local people,” Rod said. “We’ve listened to regulars, respected its heritage and focused on what the community wants: great entertainment, strong teams, great value, sports and a pub that feels alive again. We aim to create memories and give people real reasons to keep coming back.”

Clare added: “For us, it’s about warmth, consistency and making sure there’s always something happening. Whether it’s entertainment, sport or a quiet drink, we want everyone to feel comfortable, welcomed and part of our fantastic pub.”

As part of the pub’s refresh, six new roles have also been created, adding vital employment to the local community.

Supporting the relaunch is Punch Pubs & Co Senior Operations Manager Rachael Henry, who said: “Rod and Clare truly understand what it means to put a pub at the heart of its community, and this investment ensures The Sun will deliver great value all day every day – the best in sport, atmosphere, live entertainment, genuine hospitality and experiences that keep our customers coming back.”
