The White Hart Tap in St Albans will reopen this June following a £500k investment from Punch Pubs & Co, bringing a refreshed look while staying true to the warm, welcoming character locals know and love.

The pub, which temporarily closed its doors this May to undergo an extensive refurbishment, is being carefully refreshed to enhance the space for guests while preserving its long-standing role at the heart of the community.

A new look won’t be the only part of the pub’s next chapter. At the helm of the reopening is Alex Joannides, the pub’s new Management Partner. With a strong background in hospitality, Alex is passionate about continuing the pub’s legacy and ensuring it remains a safe and inclusive space for all.

“I feel very honoured to have been given this opportunity, and I’m looking forward to working with the White Hart Tap team to maintain and build on the quality that has been established over the years,” Alex said. “I want all our guests to receive the same warm welcome and experience they’re used to, alongside a fresh new look while keeping the same ethos.”

The investment will deliver a full internal redecoration designed to enhance the overall experience for both existing and new guests. Brand-new flooring will feature throughout the pub, alongside fixtures and fittings and modern lighting.

Passers-by have already noticed the striking changes taking shape, which are being documented on the pub’s social media pages, as the pub’s exterior undergoes its own refresh to match the new internal aesthetic. With new signage and minor improvements to the external area, The White Hart Tap is set to remain a local go-to destination whatever the weather.

Alongside the physical investment, guests can also expect a new food menu at the refreshed pub in the near future. It will focus on well-executed pub classics, offering lunches, light bites and evening meals for the whole community, alongside a rotating selection of cask ales – a much-loved feature that locals were keen to retain.

While the renovation is substantial, Alex is keen to reassure the local community that their beloved pub will remain true to its roots. Community will continue to sit at the heart of the pub’s purpose, offering a safe and welcoming destination for everyone who walks through the doors.

With the countdown to reopening on the 5th of June now underway, Alex and the team are focused on delivering a memorable launch and re-establishing the pub as a go-to social spot in the city.

More updates about the pub’s reopening, upcoming launches and events can be found on the White Hart Tap’s website and social media pages.
