The Woolpack pub reopened this June after a significant investment by leading pub company Punch Pubs & Co.

The much-loved pub has been brought into Punch’s Fireside Inns collection, with a light-touch refurbishment focused on enhancing comfort, character and ensuring it remains at the heart of the community.

A fresh new look isn’t all it offers; taking the helm of The Woolpack is new Management Partner Melanie Clay, who will lead a renewed focus on creating a warm, welcoming pub that brings the community together through great food, drinks and events.

The vision for the pub is simple: to become a front-and-centre community hub – a place where locals naturally gather, whether for a midweek drink, a family meal, a sunny afternoon in the beer garden, or to enjoy one of the pub’s popular events.

Rather than completely overhauling it, the investment has refreshed key areas to create a more characterful country pub feel while retaining the familiarity and charm guests know and love.

Inside, a relaxed mix of new chairs and improved layouts has created clearer zoning throughout. Guests will now find a distinct bar-and-snug feel, a lounge area with darts as a social focal point, and a brighter dining space for those all-important occasions.

Outside, The Woolpack’s beer garden has been positioned as a key destination for the village, with the ambition of becoming the place everyone heads to when the sun comes out. Guests will notice a brighter, refreshed space complete with new planters and seating.

Alongside enjoying its renewed comfort, The Woolpack’s food menu offers a stepped-up dining experience, including a brand-new menu packed with seasonal dishes and fresh flavours. Designed to suit every occasion, the new menu gives guests plenty to enjoy, from a classic Sunday roast to nibbles with friends or an occasion-led family meal.

The pub’s bar has also been refreshed with an extensive drinks collection, offering big-name favourites and flavour-led serves for every moment – whether that’s a midweek beer, cocktails with friends or bubbles for a celebration.

Entertainment will play a central role in the pub’s community offer, with The Woolpack set to host regular live music and events. Its strong calendar will include quiz nights, family fun days and entertainment designed to keep locals coming back time and time again.

Melanie Clay, Management Partner at The Woolpack, said: “I’m really excited to be at the helm of this fantastic pub and to have been welcomed by the community means so much to me. It’s clear how much the pub means to the locals, and I’m looking forward to getting to know every one of them. We’ve got some exciting plans coming up this year, but importantly, ensuring the pub sits at the heart of the community is our priority.”

More information about the pub and its upcoming events can be found on The Woolpack’s website and social media pages.
